THE TRINITY COLLECTION
The TRINITY COLLECTION represents one of our top 10 unique gifts and collectibles. With our special pricing, they also make great and inexpensive co-workers gifts, as collection encompasses many themes that appeal to women with different interests. Each plate is designed and created in the Mellor Studio in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, by a team of Staffordshire artists under the watchful eye of Mr. Nicholas Mellor who has earned the distinctive title of Master Lithographer. He has often been commissioned by internationally famous companies, such as Danbury Mint and The Hamilton Collection, to produce plates for their collector editions which have been sold throughout the world. He was commissioned by the Jaguar Motor Company to create a plate honouring their 100th year of producing quality automobiles and was later contracted to produce a 40th anniversary plate honouring the Mini Cooper.
The TRINITY COLLECTION currently consists of over 45 individual plates in sets of three associated with a given theme. Shortly after the tragic death of Princess Diana, a commemorative plate was added by his studio in her memory with an amount from each sale to be contributed to one of her favourite charities. Since then, the Mellor Studio has designed and produced a new commemorative plate honouring the 100th birthday of the Queen Mother, which has become a very popular gift for followers of the Royal Family. All of our plates are sold both individually and in sets. Due to the wide range of subjects, we have placed them on the list of last minute gifts, with plates from our cat collection leading the way.
The TRINITY COLLECTION is produced on Fine English Porcelain plates and bordered with 22 karat gold. Each plate measures between 8 inches and 8.25 inches in diameter and comes in a presentation box. Because we purchase in large quantities and do not pay the VAT (National Sales Tax), we receive a priced break making it possible to sell for less than it would be priced in England.
HORSE AND CIRCUS BRASSES
Are you looking for a uniquely different gift or collectible for that special person who is hard to shop for? Our British door knocker and horse brass collections may be just what you are looking for. Each piece is individually handcrafted by skilled craftsmen who use sand casting rather than metal molds and do not skimp on the amount of copper they add to the mix of first-run pure ingot brass. We do not sell any items made of recycled brass, in order to ensure the best quality the industry has to offer. Some designs would make great gifts for young (or more mature) newlyweds, such as the Valentine / Two Lovers door knocker. The Number 10 door knocker would be a most welcome gift by any man or for the family. It is the door knocker found on the front door of the Prime Ministers residence at Number 10 Downing Street in London and makes as a bold (masculine) statement greeting all visitors who enter. The Very Large Lion Mask is the ultimate door knocker in our collection, weighing in at over 7 pounds. For those who love the seaside, our dolphin or seahorse door knockers would certainly make popular unusual valentine gifts. For the Scottish family member, co-worker or friend, consider the Mackintosh or Piper door knocker. For the Irish on your list, consider the 19th century Shamrock Claddagh door knocker that was first introduced in the fishing village outside Gallway and brought to America by Irish immigrants and passed down from mother to daughter. Our door knocker collection offers a unique selecion you will not find elsewhere in the United States and the quality is the finest Britain has to offer.
In addition to our growing doorknocker collection, our expanding collection of high quality horsebrasses has become one of the largest single collections in North America. Each is made with the same high quality ingot brass used in the manufacture of our door knocker collection and highly collectible, decorative, with a story of its own. Follow the history of man from the beginning of civilization in the Middle East, through the time of the Roman invasion of England 1000 years ago, and during the Crusades when Christian soldiers brought similar amulets back to Europe from the wars fought in the Holy Land. They are steeped in tradition and superstition, depicting what was important to the people of the time; from the fear of the unknown to pride of family ancestory. Some of our designs were influenced by amulets made over 4000 years ago in the Middle East and bring us through the centuries to the present. The earlier pieces were designed primarily to protect the bearer from the invisible “evil eye,” which represents many of both evil and good spirits that roamed invisibly throughout the universe. There is a subject of interest for everyone…from superstition, religion, cathedrals, castles, military units, history, heraldry, personalities, family crests, to places of interest throughout the British Isles. We also offer English genuine harness leather martingales on which horse brasses are often attached when worn by horses as well as for public display. Old English inns, hotels, manor homes, and pubs would not be the same without their horsebrasses proudly ceiling beams, support posts or on brick/stone fireplaces
Collectors seek quality brasses that contain a high copper content for durability and depth of colour. Copper has become an expensive metal, thus, cheaper reproductions contain less copper and more zinc, tin and alloys are commonly found in tourist shops. All of our brass wares are made of first-run ingot brass rich in copper, making them of heirloom quality to be passed on to future generations.
Collectors also pay close attention to the martingales on which the brasses are attached. Cheaper reproductions look like leather, but are of leatherette which is stiff, brittle and lasts only about two years before cracking or breaking. Our martingales are cut from English harness leather for a lifetime of beauty; D rings and attached buckles are made with only the best quality solid brass. We believe our horse brasses, martingales and solid brass doorknockers will be among the top 10 holiday gifts of the year.
THE WIDECOMBE FAIR CHARACTER JUG
Are you looking for unusual gifts for that special someone? Check out our new sports-wear category for practical gifts that consists of Officially Licensed soccer (football) baseball caps, scarfs and “body flags” sold in the team stores located in their stadiums. Our Widecombe Fair collection of character jugs may also be what you are looking for. From the Moors of Devon comes this unique collectible series of character jugs that originated from the Widecombe Fair, held every year (even during both World Wars) since the early 19th century. The Fair was the result of an idea by the Vicar of Widecombe who figured a way to increase dwindling male church attendance during his Sunday services. He decided to sponsor archery competitions after church services every Sunday. The catch was that participants had to attend services before taking part in this sporting event. It worked and the local archers became quite good from all the practice they received. In fact, they became so good, merchants decided it would be “neighborly” to invite villagers from the surrounding countryside by holding an annual fair which would include a competition to name the best archer for the year. When the Fair draws to a close, everyone joins in singing a song that tells of a comical unfolding of events that occured one year during the journey to the fair by Uncle Tom Cobley and all his friends as they travelled from a nearby village on a borrowed horse. The fair has been held every year without interruption for over 200 years and attracts visitors from throughout the world. We will include a copy of the song with each purchase of character jugs.
The character jugs in the Widecombe Fair collection of Uncle Tom Cobley and his friends are handmade and handpainted at the small “one man” pottery shop in Widecombe. The regular size character jug stands about 3.5 inches high with a diameter of about 2.50 inches. The miniatures are approximately 1.75 inches tall with a diameter of about 1.50 inches. Each casting is made in local Devon clay and hand painted by local artists. Each has the name of the character etched in its back so you know who they are while reading or singing the story about their eventful adventure. We know you will enjoy the collection that will become a center of attraction in your home. They make fantastic holiday gifts for coworkers as well as for yourself. We are running low in our inventory as this gift set in both sizes has been very popular.

Our collection of plant waterers offers very useful gift for the women in your life. Each is handmade and handpainted with pride by the Widecombe pottery. They have been one of our most popular offerings as they are unique, functional, decorative, and inexpensive. The upper portion is hand-painted and glazed to make it water tight, but the lower spike is porous, allowing the water to moisten the soil as it dries, keeping the roots of the potted plant moist.
