The Cherub, angel design represents the existence of angels, the supernatural entities whose sole purpose is to serve the gods. The first known source was unearthed in the ancient Middle Eastern city of Mesopotamia, dating back at least 4000 years. Egyptians show the sphinx in its place. Some Scholars suggest Cherubs are protective deities found by a doorway. Others believe they may also serve as a medium through which the gods speak to others. The Old Testament (Gen.3:24) describes them as angels who served as guardians of the east side of the Garden of Eden. Our doorknockers are handmade by a leading British foundry employing sand-casting, using a pure first-run ingot brass mix rich in copper for depth of colour and durability. No recycled brass is used in any of our brassware. When sand-casting is complete, the casting is removed once it has cooled, shot-blasted, hand filed to remove any excess brass, then hand polished to enhance the natural beauty of quality brass. Measurements: Approximately 6″ long, 3.50″ wide and 10.9 ounces in weight. Measures approximately 3 1/2″ wide, 6″ in length and weighs 10.9 ounces.
