The ancient Greeks and Romans believed the seahorse was an attribute to the seagod Neptune/Poseidon; a symbol of stength and power. It was believed responsible for providing safe passage and protection for the souls of deceased sailors as they traveled to their destination in their after-life. Ancient Chinese cultures believed they were a type of sea dragon and shared the belief with Eropean sailors that they were a good luck charm. Handmade by a leading British foundry employing the ageless sand-casting technique, using a pure first-run ingot brass mix rich in copper for depth of colour and durability. Each piece is shot-blasted to remove excess material, hand filed, then hand polished to enhance the natural beauty of quality brass. Measurements: Approximately 2″ wide, 5.50″ long and 1.50 pounds in weight.

All of our solid brass door knockers are hand made by skilled craftsmen employed by a leading British foundry that has been creating quality brasswares for over 75 years. They are individually made using the traditional sand-casting method and a pure first-run ingot brass mix rich in copper for depth of colour and durability. No scrap or recycled brass is used in order to ensure that no impurities are in the brass mix. After the cast is removed, the piece is shot-blasted, hand dressed and hand filed to remove any excess material that may have been left from the sand-casting. The door knocker is hand polished to enhance the true beauty of quality brass then antiqued to give it background and definition in its pattern. The antique colouration is removed from the more pronounced areas to give the finished piece a beautifully aged look. Each door knocker is made to last for generations so install it on your front doot, stand back and admire. Measures approximately 5 1/2″ high and 2″ wide. Weighs 7 3/4 ounces.
