Door Knocker: Seahorse

The ancient Greeks and Romans believed the seahorse was an attribute to the sea god Neptune/Poseidon; a symbol of strength and power. It was believed responsible for providing safe passage and protection for the souls of deceased sailors as they traveled to their destination in their after-life. Ancient Chinese cultures believed they were a type of sea dragon and shared the belief with European sailors that they were a good luck charm. Handmade by a leading British foundry employing the ageless sand-casting technique, using a pure first-run ingot brass mix rich in copper for depth of colour and durability. Each piece is shot-blasted to remove excess material, hand filed, then hand polished to enhance the natural beauty of quality brass.
