Horsebrass Monarch Collection: Abdication

Horsebrass Monarch Collection: Abdication

King Edward VIII, Prince of Wales and Duke of Windsor, was born 23 June 1894 and served as king between 20 January and 11 December, 1936. He abdicated his throne in order to marry his American sweetheart who was not of Royal blood. They took residence in France where he died on 28 May 1972. His body was returned to England for a Royal burial, but when his wife died, she was not to be buried beside her husband as she was not born of a Royal family. This decision was later changed and they are not back together.
