Horse Brass: Welsh Dragon

Horse Brass: Welsh Dragon

Why would the Welsh select the dragon ( a powerful creature of the parallel worlds) as a national symbol and proudly place a red dragon on its flag? The answer: YDdraie Goch Ddyry Cychwyn….” The Dragon Leads The Way.” It is popularly believed the dragon was used as the battle standard of King Arthur and other ancient Celtic warriors. Legend has it that it is the prophecy of Merlin of a long fight (5th and 6th centuries) between the red dragon (Celts/Welsh) and white dragon (Romans)… with temporary victory going to the white, but final victory to the red dragon.
