Collectors pay close attention to the martingales on which the brasses are attached. Cheaper reproductions look like leather, but are of “leatherette” and have a life expectancy of about two years before cracking or breaking. which is stiff, brittle and lasts only about two years before cracking or breaking. Our martingales are cut from fine quality English harness leather and are fitted with solid English brass “D” rings and buckles for a lifetime of enjoyment. The circus brass is a larger cousin of the horsebrass and used for the same reasons the horsebrasses are used for horses…mainly for protection from “evil” spirits. Our price includes a circus brass mounted upon an oversized martingale.
