Hamilton and Young’s designers wanted to recognize the work of Glasgow’s world famous designer and water-colorist, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, who was educated at the prestigious Glasgow School of Art and led the Art-Nouveau movement in Great Britain. In late 19th century Glasgow, an exciting combination of industrial wealth and skills, artistic talent and enlightened patronage, produced the climate that fostered a new movement in design and style, known as “The Glasgow Style” with Charles Rennie Mackintosh at its head. It was an idiosyncratic variation of Art Nouveau and the Arts and crafts movement that started in France and was brought to Britain by Mackintosh.
Each Mackintosh design is unique and is a “one of a kind” creation to be appreciated for its natural beauty. A true beauty that stands apart from the rest.
