This is an authentic Scottish half penny attractively illustrated by the Coinage in-house design team in England and displayed on a card with a plastic cover. The “Bawbee” had a value of sixpence when it was first introduced in 1538; the name came from a Rabbie Burns poem. During the early twentieth century, the name “Wee Bawbee” was given to the Scottish half penny.
