Made and hand painted by Wood Potters Of Burslem, Stafforsdshie, England. Toby Philpot is a representative of the street people/beggers/pick-pockets of the 18th century. He stands approximately 6.50″ high. Unlike Tubby Toby, he is a “harder” looking person with unkempt hair that is unevenly cut and his features are more “heavier” set rather than those of a robust jolly person. The name Toby Philpot was given as he would “spin the tales” in the pub to entertain anyone and everyone willing to keep his “pot” full of “stingo” the very potent ale of the midlands of the 18th century. Toby Philpot is represented by the two on the left.
